A Kid’s Garden Adventure
The 2012 WVU Extension Service Garden Calendar features articles that will help gardeners share the excitement of planting and growing fruits and vegetables with the children in their lives.Through gardening, children can learn about science and math in their own backyards. A home garden is an ideal place for families to do some fun projects, such as planting a “pizza garden” and growing edible flowers or giant veggies.
The calendar has a different look this year because it features illustrations by our 4-H members from across West Virginia. We think you’ll enjoy looking at gardening through their eyes.
Each month of the calendar provides the perennially popular suggested dates for planting and carrying out other gardening activities.
Any of our 55 WVU Extension county offices will be happy to provide you with more gardening information. You also may want to check out the great array of gardening information found on our website.

County Art Honors
Thanks to the many 4-H’ers from around West Virginia who submitted artwork for the 2012 Garden Calendar. While space in the printed calendar was limited to only about a dozen artists, artwork from more than 60 students from 25 West Virginia counties is featured in this slideshow.
